FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Think Tank: Trafalgar Analytics marks first year with over 410,000 views, 20 papers, and reach into GB News and Telegraph newsrooms
LONDON, 6th May 2026 — Trafalgar Analytics has today published the sixth edition of its "Data & Decision Insights" briefing paper, marking one year since the think tank's launch.
Over that period, Trafalgar has published more than 20 public and private papers, drawing over 410,000 views, with its work crossing the desks of councillors, staffers, and MPs, as well as journalists at GB News, the Telegraph, TalkTV, the New Culture Forum podcast, and the Lotuseaters show.
The briefing states that Trafalgar's three most-read publications to date have been its interview with Dark Enlightenment philosopher Curtis Yarvin, a systematic review of the grooming gangs scandal, and a paper on DOGE-style council efficiency co-authored with freelance journalist Charlotte Gill. The think tank credits contributors across its six constituent teams: Economics and Growth, Law and Justice, Elections and Polling, Security and International Affairs, Data and Decision Insights, and its In Conversation series.
"Our premise is that those outside the rigmarole of party politics, from data scientists and engineers to independent commentators and the humble anon, often have uniquely insightful solutions to the problems facing Britain," said Lewis Appleby, Associate at Trafalgar Analytics. "Problem-solving and policy-making are as much an art as a science, and over the last year we've tried never to lose sight of that."
Trafalgar also announced a rebrand led by Design Editor and Associate Bukes, alongside plans to launch a regular series of X/Twitter Spaces in the third quarter of 2026, and confirmed it will run an Editorial Contributorship Review of its full archive against UKRIO research-integrity guidelines, open to reader submissions until 31st May 2026.
Inside the Anniversary Briefing
The sixth Insights briefing carries six separate pieces alongside the anniversary reflection and Trafalgar's own plans for the coming year.
House of Lords addendum: Bukes examines comments from Reform MP Danny Kruger on Lords reform, warning that entering government without a manifesto commitment on Lords reform would be harder to justify publicly than committing to it upfront.
May 2026 election predictions: psephologist Mr Bobo projects Reform will outperform mainstream pollsters' upper-bound estimate of 1,892 council seats, forecasting 1,961, while Labour and the Conservatives are projected to lose 66–75% and 50-60% of held seats, respectively.
The Green Party's rise: Bukes argues Reform should take the Green Party more seriously as a genuine left-wing competitor rather than dismissing it, warning Reform needs a fresh economic offer to keep widening its coalition.
US-China sanctions: Trafalgar's Economics and Growth, and Security and International Affairs teams examine China's unprecedented "blocking" response to US sanctions on its Teapot Refineries, flagging the 14–15 May Xi-Trump Beijing summit as a key moment to watch.
Online right-wing culture: respected newsman Jack Hadfield reflects on how the movement has changed since 2016, arguing today's easier platform environment has softened it rather than sharpened it.
The "Posting-to-Policy Pipeline": Associate Haryan Glaeddyv assesses how anonymous social media accounts have driven real policy change, citing the Motability scheme reforms as the clearest success story and warning that campaigns without message discipline, such as those around migrant hotels, tend to stall.
